The Government of Mozambique has been carrying out the secondary school system reform in order to make the education more practical and relevant for the economic and social needs of the country. This project will assist the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) in introducing entrepreneurship curriculum programme (ECP) at secondary and vocational schools nation-wide, based on the experiences gained in pilot operations in Cabo Delgado province.
Project budget: NOK 16 million
Duration: 4 years (2007 to 2010)
Agreement Signed June 9, 2007
Building from the experience both in Uganda but also from the successful, (although limited) piloting in Cabo Delgado, this support will enable UNIDO to technically assist the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) to gradually introduce the Entrepreneurship Education into the Mozambican formal education system. This process is expected to be concluded in 2010.
Programme objective: To transform the mentality of secondary school students into entrepreneurial culture in order to develop foundations in massive scale for the private sector development by:
(1) Allowing students to develop positive attitudes towards business, entrepreneurship and self-employment;
(2) Empowering students with analytical skills and entrepreneurial competences to identify, select and make viable use of gainful opportunities within their environment;
(3) Helping students to identify entrepreneurship as a possible career with abilities to successfully plan, start and manage a business.
