Cross cutting Concerns

Consolidation of the peace, human rights, gender equality, good governance and sustainable administration of natural resources including clean energy and fishery, are main cross cutting concerns for Norway.

Support within the prioritized areas is planned, and Norway tries to utilize the synergy effects of a long term engagement for development, increased commerce, consolidation of peace, promotion of human rights, cultural cooperation, as well as strengthened political and economic bilateral relations. Special attention is given within all sectors of cooperation to contribute to reduce the burden of the effect of the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

There is an ongoing support to civil society organizations working for increased pluralism and transparency, as well as to the Mozambican Human Rights League and to a project for strengthening of women's right to land. Through seminars Norway has tried to educate the media on potencial clashes of interests and problems related to environment, fishery, tourism and petroleum.
