In February 2008, the Norwegian embassy in Mozambique carried out a seminar for local companies and relevant government departments in the country. The seminar revealed a great interest for the subject. The Embassy decided to follow up with further capacity building, as we consider this to be essential for realizing Mozambique’s potential within CDM.
A follow-up mission was carried out by ECON Pöyry between 13-17 October 2008. The main purpose was to go beyond previous capacity building activities and identify specific, concrete project concepts in climate change mitigation that could receive further project development support from the Norway. A series of meetings with potential project developers were arranged to identify new climate change mitigation activities within both the public and private sector that could potentially qualify for CDM funding.

The Embassy has in October 2009 entered into a contract with the internationally reputable consultancy company Econ Pőyry AS for the provision of professional services to enhance the capacity within the field of Clean Development Mechanisms (CDM) amongst personnel and institutions involved in energy related projects in Mozambique.
