The Embassy has for a number of years supported the Maputo-based Teatro Avenida. In connection with the Ibsen year 2006, the Swedish author Henning Mankell produced a script "Nora's daughters", on the theme of gender equality. The Embassy is currently supporting Teatro Avenida in bringing this performance to the Mozambican provinces. Read more

The Associação Kulungwana is a Mozambican organisation dedicated to strenghtening the variety of Mozambican culture and to provide infrastructure for artistic expressions. Annually, it organizes the "International Music Festival" with an emphasis on classical music and jazz. Mozambique has a vast number of sites and artifacts of historical and cultural heritage value, but limited resources to restore and maintain them. One example is the Ilha de Moçambique, which in it's entirety is appointed World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Umoja Festival is an annual event in October each year, which includes a broadcastet concert at Praça da Independencia featuring amateurs and professionals from Mozambique, Norway, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania. Read more
