Umoja Festival is an annual event in October each year, which includes a broadcastet concert at Praça da Independencia featuring amateurs and professionals from Mozambique, Norway, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania.
"Umoja Cultural Flying Carpet" is a cultural exchange programme under the auspices of Norsk Kulturskoleråd (Norwegian Council of Cultural Schools). The Umoja Festival in Maputo is one of the many projects Umoja carries out, and it has grown to become a popular event attracting thousands of spectators for a huge show of music, dance, acrobatics and other performances.
The Norwegian Embassy has entered into a strategic partnership providing 4.200.000 NOK over 3 years for this event. The festival is cosponsored by Norwegian businesses operating in Mozambique.
