Human Rights

Being one of the poorest countries in the world, it is a considerable challenge for the government of Mozambique to provide basic service delivery in order for the population to enjoy basic human rights such as health and education. However, some of the most serious violations of human rights in Mozambique are believed to take place within the justice sector, in the police, the legal system and the prisons.

Programmes and Projects

The Embassy has for many years supported the Mozambican Human Rights League (LDH).  LDH is a NGO that has the promotion of human rights as its main task, and the organisation works both with advocacy, legal counselling for the poor, and information, HR surveying as well as raising awareness about human rights violations. The Embassy has recently entered a MoU with LDH, and funds the organization with coresupport.
