The European Commission has decided that as of April 21, 2011 to blacklist all airlines registered in Mozambique.
The decision is based on a report by the international organization for aviation safety, ICAO from January 2010. In the report the Mozambican air safety authorities are assessed not capable of performing their duties i.e. to ensure that airlines registered in Mozambique meet international regulations for air safety. The blacklisting will persist until the Mozambican air safety authorities have overcome the flaws listed in the report.
As a consequence the Embassy has changed its practice and does not permit the staff to travel with Mozambican carriers on official travels.
