The Norwegian oil company Det Norske Oljeselskap (DNO) has started operations in the central province of Sofala. DNO has a consession for test-drilling for natural gas and the results of the drilling will probably be ready by the end of July.
13/07/2004 :: During the lanuching ceremony on 2 July, DNO director Aasmund Erlandsen estimated the probability of finding natural gas in the area to about 20 percent. However, he thought it possible that oil might exist in the same area. Sofala governor Felicio Zacarias expressed that he was hoping for an positive outcome.
