“Nora’s daughters” perform in Oslo this week at the Ibsen Festival

03/09/2008 :: The play “Nora’s daughters” by Henning Mankell is based on Henrik Ibsens’ “Et Dukkehjem”. The play is performed by the theatre group Mutumbela Gogo from Teatro Avenida Thursday 4/9 and Friday 5/9 at the National Theatre in Oslo as a part of the Ibsen Festival.

The play has been financially supported by the Norwegian Embassy in Mozambique in relation to the “Ibsen-year” in 2006. Henning Mankell has lived in Mozambique for 18-19 years and has written and directed several plays highlightening women’s life and position in Mozambique.
The Ibsen Festival was established by the National Theatre in Oslo in 1990, and has every year since had a week during the fall with plays inspired by Henrik Ibsen, both nationally produced and international invited theatres.
