General Information Regarding Visa Requirements
Application for entry visa:
On 25 March 2001 Norway became part of the Schengen co-operation. The Schengen territory includes the following countries: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden. It is worth noting that several European countries, including Great Britain, Ireland, Russia, Switzerland and Turkey, do not participate in the Schengen cooperation.
Norway's participation in the Schengen co-operation has changed the way the Embassy normally grants visa. This is due to the facts that Norway must comply with the rules and regulation agreed upon in the Schengen agreement. In relation to this agreement foreign national outside Schengen territory need only one Schengen visa to enter the territory. The Schengen visa allows foreign national to free movement within the Schengen territory during the period for which the visa is valid.
Entering Norway:
All foreign nationals from countries outside the Schengen territory who wish to enter Norway must have a valid passport. Nationals of countries within the Schengen territory must have a valid passport or other identity officially recognised as a valid travel document within the Schengen territory. Only Nordic nationals travelling in any Nordic countries are exempted from this passport requirement. Foreign nationals from a number of countries outside the Schengen territory who wish to visit more than one Schengen country, but intend to spend the longest period of time in Norway or for whom Norway is the first country of entry into the Schengen territory, must have visa affixed to their passport by a Norwegian foreign mission or foreign mission of other Schengen country representing Norway.
The requirements for processing a visa to visit Norway are as follows:
Application form – duly filled and one passport size photo A valid passport/travel document. A fee of 60 EURO has to be paid. The passport/travel document must be valid for at least three months longer than the date of return to Mozambique, Swaziland and Mauritius. Applicants holding a travel document apart from passport will only be granted visa if the document is recognised by all Schengen countries. Adequate funds. It is very expensive to spend a holiday or to visit in any Schengen country. You need to show a prove of evidence that you are able to pay for your stay in the Schengen territory.
